Karthi starrer ‘Sardar 2’ is gearing up for its release, and the film’s director PS Mithran has been busy with promotions while also addressing several questions about his upcoming projects. The filmmaker has now opened up about stories he discussed with leading stars in the past, including Rajinikanth and Suriya. He also clarified the buzz around his proposed project with Dhanush and spoke about the ambitious adventure film he had planned with Yash.
PS Mithran reveals why his ambitious Yash project did not happen
One of the biggest talking points from PS Mithran’s latest interaction was his proposed film with Yash. Speaking with SS Music, the director revealed that the story he narrated to the ‘Toxic’ actor remains his most ambitious idea. “The story I narrated to Yash sir is my most ambitious project. It’s an adventure story like ‘Indiana Jones,’ with a strong emotional core. It’ll be superb if it happens. It’s my dream project,” PS Mithran said. He added that the project could not move forward because of timeline issues. Despite not materialising with Yash, the filmmaker made it clear that the subject remains close to his heart and is a project he would like to pursue.
PS Mithran clarifies Dhanush film buzz and past discussions
PS Mithran also addressed reports about a possible collaboration with Dhanush. He clarified that the story is not his own and comes from veteran writer Vijayendra Prasad, father of SS Rajamouli. “Dhanush sir’s film is not my story. It’s a story by Rajamouli’s father, Vijayendra Prasad. Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions brought me the story and asked me to direct it. I liked the story. It’s not finalised yet. All the talks are happening now,” he explained. The director further recalled that he had discussions with several major stars after ‘Irumbu Thirai.’ He had narrated two or three stories to Suriya, but none of those projects have been finalised. He also met Rajinikanth in 2021 and narrated a story, but that proposed film too did not take shape.
About ‘Sardar 2’
PS Mithran is now focused on Sardar 2, which is set to continue the story of the successful first film. Karthi and Rajisha Vijaya return as leads, with SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, and Ashika Ranganath joining the sequel expanding the action and espionage elements of the franchise. Sam CS is handling the music, and the film is slated for a strong theatrical release on September 10.
