Actor Dhanush is reportedly planning to return to direction with a new film, even as he continues focusing on his acting projects. After ‘Idly Kadai’ did not meet expectations, he shifted his attention to his next film ‘Kara’, slated for release on April 30, and another project directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy. Now, fresh reports indicate that director Dhanush has finalized the story for his upcoming movie. He is said to be managing multiple things and continuing his acting career alongside direction, keen to complete this new project in his available time.

Mrunal Thakur in talks for female-led project with Dhanush

According to a report from Filmibeat, Mrunal Thakur is in discussions to play the lead role in this film. The production described the story as female-centric and offering a meaty role for the heroine. Reportedly, discussions between the team and the actress are in the final stages, which will soon result in an official announcement. If this is true, this project will be the first collaboration for Dhanush and Mrunal Thakur, obviously creating great expectations among fans and industry observers.

Past rumours fade as professional collaboration takes focus

Earlier, there were rumours linking Dhanush and Mrunal Thakur personally, even suggesting marriage plans. However, the actress clearly denied such claims at the time. With the news that the two are collaborating on a film, all attention is on their joint project. Movie insiders think their collaboration could bring a refreshing on-screen combination, as Dhanush is a master of narration and storytelling.

Period backdrop and a unique story raise expectations

The upcoming film is reportedly set in the 1960s and may revolve around a story linked to a village deity, giving it a strong cultural and emotional base. Initial work, such as look tests and early planning, has reportedly been completed. Dhanush is expected to begin shooting between his ongoing film schedules. With an interesting concept and a new pairing, the project is already generating strong buzz and is expected to be a notable addition to Dhanush’s career.
