Salman Khan<\/a>\u2019s war drama \u2018Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace\u2019 is facing a hurdle before its release. The film, earlier called \u2018Battle of Galwan\u2019, has reportedly not yet received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Defence (MoD), and without it the makers cannot move ahead with the CBFC.<\/p>\n

Why \u2018Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace\u2019 cannot reach the CBFC yet<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

Rumours in early October suggested that the film was being lined up for a Central Board of Film Certification<\/a> (CBFC) screening. However, according to the Mid-Day report, the MoD\u2019s approval is still pending. Until the ministry clears the film, the makers cannot apply for a censor certificate.The film is based on the 2020 India-China clash in the Galwan Valley. As per sources, director Apoorva Lakhia\u2019s film was screened for the MoD in mid-2026. Such a screening is needed for films, documentaries and web series based on the Indian Armed Forces.<\/p>\n

Changes made after MoD feedback<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

The report stated, “At the first screening, they had a few suggestions for the film that sees Salman Khan as an army officer. The makers reshot parts of the movie as per their recommendations.” The film has reportedly gone through many changes, including its title, the portrayal of the neighbouring country and the tone of the story.<\/p>\n

Makers wait for a response<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Salman Khan, Lakhia and the team sent the revised cut to the ministry. The report added, “Since then, there has been complete silence from the MoD. As Salman plays a soldier in the Indian Army in the movie, the makers have to follow strict regulations and approval processes before its release. The actor has been following the necessary protocols. The makers were hoping that the matter would be resolved soon, so that they could then apply for the CBFC certificate. They cannot secure a release date even for next year, unless they get the NOC from the MoD.”<\/p>\n

No solo release for Salman Khan in 2026<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

With the film stuck, Salman Khan has had no release this year. He was seen only in cameo roles in \u2018Raja Shivaji\u2019 and \u20187 Dogs\u2019.<\/p><\/div>\n
