In a poetic turnaround that has taken social media by storm, Anushka Sharma is being universally celebrated by cricket fans as the ultimate “lucky charm” for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) following their historic, back-to-back IPL championship victory. Defeating the Gujarat Titans in a one-sided final at Ahmedabad, RCB secured their second consecutive trophy under the stellar guidance of Virat Kohli, who top-scored in the match to claim the Player of the Match honors. The emotional victory marks a massive shift in public narrative for the power couple; after years of facing unwarranted online trolling whenever Kohli had a rare bad day on the pitch, Anushka’s joyful presence in the stands is now being credited by millions of fans as the team’s winning good luck charm.

Yesterday, RCB easily beat the Gujarat Titans in the final played in Ahmedabad. Virat Kohli, 37, scored the most runs in the match and won the Player of the Match award. When he hit the winning shot, he blew flying kisses to Anushka in the stands. Before that, her last full acting role was in the 2018 film ‘Zero’. After the pandemic, she shot ‘Chakda Xpress’, a biopic based on the life of cricketer Jhulan Goswami. However, after filming finished in 2022, the movie got stuck and has not moved forward since.
