MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene revealed that the pacer had been dealing with a slight injury since the T20 World Cup. Because of this, the team gave him extra rest before the IPL began.Jayawardene explained that Bumrah slowly rebuilt his rhythm during the first few matches, which affected his pace and sharpness. Even though he managed only four wickets in 13 games, opposition teams still played cautiously against him. The coach said Bumrah worked hard on his fitness, no-balls, and workload management throughout the tournament.Despite the difficult season, Jayawardene believes Bumrah is now close to his best again. He said the pacer regained his speed, yorkers, and confidence in the last few matches. Praising Bumrah’s attitude, the coach said the bowler always stayed positive and focused on improving. Jayawardene concluded that there are no major concerns about Bumrah and expects him to “come back strong”.
