Life often hits you like a ton of bricks. However, what would happen if you changed your perspective on how you see and understand things? Would it still be the same? This is the question Chalamet is attempting to answer with today’s quote.

“You could be the master of your fate, you could be the captain of your soul, but you have to realize that life is coming from you and not at you, and that takes time.”The quote for the day by the ‘Marty Supreme’ actor was spoken during one of his interviews with his co-star Zendaya. In 2021, while talking to IGV Presents with his co-star from the ‘Dune’ franchise, Chalamet presented a modernized and brand-new take on a classical novel. The star referenced the famed William Ernest Henley’s classic poem titled ‘Invictus.’ He turns around the famous phrase “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul” and talks about how your life is your responsibility, no matter how high up you get, your life comes from within you.Read ahead to know more about what the quote means.

The first part of the quote directly relates to William Ernest Henley’s poem ‘Invictus,’ which states that you can control your life and all that surrounds you in nature. You can also be the one to choose and rule over your fate; however, there is still a catch in the entire scenario in life.Chalamet takes a more modern approach to the classical poem and adds, “But you have to realize that life is coming from you and not at you, and that takes time.” Oftentimes, people cite that life is something that is coming at you. It is about how often the entire situation is overwhelming, often leaving you feeling exhausted and reactive. However, life is not something that is coming at you, but something that is coming from within you. It is you who exists in this moment, and the life around you is created from you. The world is not inherently a bad place or a good place; it is, however, shaped by your thoughts, beliefs, and energy, and the way you perceive the world around you.The way you view life will never be the same as how the stranger sitting next to you perceives life. The last part of the phrase also mentions that realising life comes from within you, along with changing your perspective on how things go about, is something that will take a long time. The first step begins with self-actualization and realizing that you must change the way you look at things, and give out goodness into the world, rather than victimizing yourself and feeling sorry about your situation.

Timothée Chalamet is one of the current most sought-after actors in the film industry.
