Miley Cyrus has spent most of her life in the spotlight, so it’s no surprise that even years after her divorce, people are still deeply invested in her love life. From her Hannah Montana days to her music career and headline-making relationships, Miley’s personal life has always been internet fuel. These days, the singer seems happy with musician Maxx Morando, with reports claiming the two got engaged after dating for around four years. But recently, social media dragged her past relationship with Liam Hemsworth back into the spotlight after an alleged private chat between the exes started circulating online. And honestly, the internet wasted absolutely no time reacting to it.The drama reportedly began after rumours spread that Miley’s Instagram account had been hacked. While Miley herself hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, several fan accounts and pop culture pages started posting claims that suspicious activity had taken place on her profile. One parody account on X even warned fans not to believe everything being posted. Then came the viral screenshot. According to posts circulating online, the alleged leaked conversation showed Liam messaging Miley on Valentine’s Day with the words:“Miley, please answer. I’m not asking for money this time.” The supposed screenshot also showed Miley replying with nothing but three dots, while Liam allegedly followed up with:“Call me back!”

Now to be clear – there’s currently no proof that the messages are real. The screenshot has been reposted across fan pages and gossip accounts, but nobody has verified whether the conversation actually happened or if it’s simply another internet fabrication.Still, that didn’t stop social media from going into full detective mode. Some users instantly called the screenshot fake, pointing out that Liam comes from a wealthy family and has had a successful acting career for years, making the “asking for money” line sound unrealistic to them. Others, however, treated the entire thing like fresh evidence that Miley and Liam still aren’t fully over each other. One user joked that the screenshot had already become “pop culture history,” while another claimed the former couple would probably end up reconnecting someday anyway. A few people were simply confused about the alleged message itself, questioning why Liam would ever need financial help considering his multimillion-dollar net worth.Basically, the internet turned one unverified screenshot into a full-blown relationship debate within hours. And honestly, that probably has a lot to do with how emotionally invested fans still are in Miley and Liam’s story. The two first met while filming The Last Song back in 2009, and their relationship quickly became one of Hollywood’s most talked-about romances. Over the years, they broke up, got back together, called off an engagement, reunited again, and eventually got married in 2018.At the time, many fans genuinely believed they had finally figured things out. Their wedding felt intimate and low-key compared to typical celebrity weddings, and people close to them described the relationship as more mature than before. But less than a year later, the marriage ended.First, Miley’s representatives confirmed the separation, and shortly after, Liam publicly addressed the breakup himself, saying he wished Miley “health and happiness” moving forward. Since then, both have largely gone their separate ways publicly, though fans have continued analysing everything from song lyrics to interviews for clues about their relationship.Which is exactly why this alleged leaked chat blew up so quickly online.Celebrity breakups have a strange way of living forever on the internet, especially when the relationship was as high-profile and emotionally dramatic as Miley and Liam’s. People don’t just follow the romance while it’s happening – they stay attached to the idea of the couple long after it’s over.At this point, whether the viral screenshot is real or completely fake almost feels secondary to the internet fascination around them. Because for many fans, Miley and Liam still represent one of those chaotic celebrity love stories that people just can’t stop revisiting.

!["5e336e8eab49fd430b3e2af3."]("https://static.toiimg.com/photo/msid-131180618/5e336e8eab49fd430b3e2af3.jpg" """")
