Mukesh Khanna<\/a> has opened up about missing out on Hera Pheri 2, revealing he was never approached for the sequel despite being part of the cult original.Speaking to The Filmy Charcha, the veteran actor said, \u201cNo, I wasn\u2019t approached. And I don\u2019t regret it. If I\u2019m asked, I\u2019ll do it… everyone else was repeated, but I wasn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018I didn\u2019t ask why I wasn\u2019t taken\u2019<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

Khanna hinted at a past issue with the makers during the first film. \u201cDuring Hera Pheri, I had a bit of a problem with the producer… his attitude. So I didn\u2019t go and ask why I wasn\u2019t taken,\u201d he said.Recalling his role, Khanna spoke about the audience response to his scenes. \u201cWhen I used to run and Om Puri chased me with a stick, I\u2019d say \u2018main commissioner hoon!\u2019… people in theatres would shout, \u2018Arre Shaktimaan bhaag raha hai!\u2019\u201dHe added that perhaps his character wasn\u2019t required in the sequel. \u201cMaybe they didn\u2019t feel the need… I wasn\u2019t there.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Akshay Kumar<\/keyword> forgetting dialogues<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

Addressing claims that Akshay<\/a> Kumar doesn\u2019t memorise lines, Khanna dismissed the notion based on his own experience.\u201cI have done six films with him… I\u2019ve never seen that,\u201d he said, referring to projects like Saugandh, Amaanat and International Khiladi.While he acknowledged that Akshay\u2019s busy schedule might fuel such perceptions, Khanna maintained, \u201cI don\u2019t think he forgets dialogues. He\u2019s a very dedicated and hardworking actor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Khanna also revealed that he had approached Akshay with a film idea a few years ago \u2014 a political drama about a paanwala influencing Parliament.\u201cI narrated the story… he heard it but said, \u2018Mukesh, I won\u2019t be able to do this,\u2019\u201d Khanna shared, adding that the actor has become more selective now.The role was initially envisioned for Irrfan Khan, but plans changed after his passing.<\/p>\n

The actor further admitted that he has publicly criticised some of Akshay\u2019s choices in the past, including Laxmii. \u201cI\u2019ve said he shouldn\u2019t have done it… maybe he\u2019s upset with me, I don\u2019t know,\u201d Khanna said.Despite this, he added that he intends to reconnect with Akshay in the future for a potential collaboration.<\/div>\n
